Welcome to the MCHS Modern Language Program where we offer Spanish and French immersion style classes for all students. In cooperation and collaboration with Rincon Valley Middle School, we offer a comprehensive program designed to produce proficient language learners.

Our dedicated teachers continually work together to design an engaging curriculum focusing on multiple learning styles. We encourage students to engage in daily language lessons by integrating grammar and vocabulary in a meaningful way. Graduation Requirement and Placement
In order to graduate from MCHS, all students must study at least one year of foreign language. Spanish and French students begin with an academic first year class. At the semester, some students continue in an academic or university prep class, while others transfer into a conversation class in order to build a solid foundation at a more comfortable pace. The following year, academic students move to second year academic Spanish or French. Spanish Conversation students who wish to continue the following year must take Spanish 1.5 in preparation for second year Spanish. Students need a “B” or higher in Conversation to take 1.5. Students on a University Pathway, who will start a four year university after High School, are encouraged to take at least three years of academic language or higher.
Students who excel with an "A" in first year French or Spanish are encouraged to take second year honors. The French program also offers third year honors. If students continue to excel, they are recommended for Advanced Placement classes.
